Ethel Virginia Lee, 82, passed away on Friday, March 08, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 beginning at 1:00 p.m. from Fairview Baptist Church with Funeral services to immediately follow at 2:30 p.m., Bro. Tommy Gillon will officiate. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery. Lowndes Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to be entrusted with funeral arrangements. Mrs. Lee was born July 06, 1936 near Carrollton, AL, to the late Samuel and Mary Ruth Hickman. She married Albert Lewis Lee on August 08, 1956. Mrs. Lee spent most of her life as a homemaker, where she excelled in her duties as her family’s Matriarch. She enjoyed frequent shopping trips with her sisters and her mother, and her love of sparkly jewelry and accessories earned her the recognition of being the “Queen of Bling” amongst those who knew and loved her best. She was a member of Fairview Baptist church where she loved her church family and was very active in her senior adult group, always looking forward to upcoming trips and outings among friends. She was also a member of the choir at Fairview Baptist Church. She enjoyed a very active life, having a good time and was always on the go. A former member of the Red Hat Society, she also was very fond of her collection of Porcelain Chickens that she had accumulated over the years. She loved supporting her family with all of their school and sports activities, and was a fixture at New Hope Sporting events, always there to cheer on her grandchildren and those she loved. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Bruce Hickman (affectionately known as “Booty”). She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Albert Lewis Lee; Daughter Sherry (Andy) Boyd; Son Dennis (Jo Nell) Lee all of Columbus. Sisters Nell Jacobs of Pascagoula, MS, and Muriel Pearson of Carrollton, AL. Grandchildren: Lee (Allison) Boyd, Russ (Jessica) Boyd, Landon Boyd, Davis Lee, Peyton (Kati) Lee and Alex Lee. Great grandchildren: Audrey Boyd, Brady Boyd, Evie Boyd and Ellen Boyd and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Mrs. Lee’s grandsons will all serve as active pallbearers.
