COLUMBUS — Elizabeth “Betty” Dennis Egger Miller, 82, died Feb. 15, 2019. Graveside services are 3 p.m. Monday at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus with the Rev. Curtis Bray and the Rev. Andy Tentoni officiating. Visitation is Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Gunter and Peel Funeral Home, College Street location. Ms. Miller was born July 20, 1936, in Columbus to the late John Wesley Egger Sr. and Frances Fleming Egger. She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and Mississippi University for Women in Columbus and obtained a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. She was active in her community as a member and volunteer in many organizations, including the Junior Auxiliary of Columbus, Columbus Arts Council, The Good Samaritan Clinic and Columbus Historic Preservation Commission. Betty touched the lives of so many through her work with the Phillips Foundation, Kidney Care and Community Counseling Services. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Egger Molpus; and brother, John Wesley Egger Jr. Survivors include her son, Robert Glenn Miller Jr.; daughter, Jyl Miller Barefield; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
