OKTIBBEHA COUNTY — Mary Sarah Ball Rackley, 99, died on Feb. 14, 2019, at Oktibbeha County Hospital. Visitation is Monday from 4-6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Starkville. Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements Mrs. Rackley was born in Pontotoc in 1920 to Laurel Perry and Mary Stanford Ball. She was a graduate of Pontotoc High School. She and her husband settled in Starkville in 1953 and started their first business Rackley-Walker Equipment Company, later Starkville Tractor. In 1962, they started Rackley Oil, originally as Lion Oil Jobbers (now Marathon). Mary was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Rackley; five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Cecelia Rackley Cook ; son, Perry Calloway Rackley, both of Starkville; sister, Amy Lou Brasfield of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
