STARKVILLE — Kenneth Cook, 84, died May 26, 2018. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Welch Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Mr. Cook was born January 19, 1934, in Bruce, MS, to the late Herbert and Pearlie Free Cook. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Starkville. He served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He retired from the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service as Interim State Leader, 4-H Youth Development, Mississippi State University. After retirement, he served six years as the Oktibbeha County, District Four, Election Commissioner and volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity program. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, James and Robert Cook, both of Oxford, MS. He is survived by his wife, Charlene G. Cook; daughter, Julie C. Lowery of Starkville; son, Lt. Col. (USA Retired) Charles Kenneth Cook of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren; three great granddaughters, and sister, Mary Phillips, Oxford, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Starkville, First Baptist Church Children’s building fund.
