Wayne Fondren, 75, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 23,2017, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow Sunday, July 23, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Derek Youngblood officiating and Bro. Jesse Ray assisting. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Fondren was born June 2, 1942, in Columbus, MS to the late Orland and Louise Franks Fondren. He retired from United Technologies after almost 40 years working in the tool crib. Mr. Fondren was also a member of the Army National Guard in 1963. He was a member of First Assembly of God, Columbus, MS. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fondren was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Fondren. Mr. Fondren is survived by his only daughter- Christina Fondren of Columbus, MS; special friends- Natalie and Connie Warren, Brian, Angie, and Hannah Grace Lutton, Ric, Stacy, Richelle, Adriana, Nathaniel and Zoey Petersen, and Wanda Keasler. Pallbearers will be Tommy Fondren, Aaron Lane, Brandon Chriswell, Rodney Fulgham, Less Walls, and Benny Yarbrough. Honorary pallbearers will be Senior Saints of First Assembly of God, Palmer Home Thrift Store Employees past and present, Baptist Hospital cafeteria ladies past and present, and Baptist Nurses and CNA’s. A special thank you to Nurse Alley Ferguson (5th Floor nurse in training) who made Dad’s days as comfortable as possible.
