WEST POINT — Harriet Gaskin, 78, died Feb. 24, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. Services are Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kirby Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Mantee. Visitation is Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Harriet was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Houston to the late Julian Lorraine and Amy Leona Holland Turman. She was faithful and very active member of First Christian Church in West Point. She was formerly employed as a seamstress for Knickerbocker and Big Yank in West Point and as a waitress at The Trace Inn in Houston and The City Café in Booneville. She was an active member of the West Point Pilot Club In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ellison and Inez Shelton; and brother, John Mason Turman. She is survived by her sons, Chuck Gaskin and Jim Gaskin, both of West Point and James Saylors of Ethelsville, Alabama; sister, Lucille Glasson of New Albany; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chris Gaskin, Matthew Gaskin, Shane Phariss, Roddy Sessions, Ronnie Ellison, Terry Burns, Lonnie Glasson, David Ellison, and Haven Ellison.
