Junior Sparks

COLUMBUS — Burton “Junior” Sparks, 65, died Aug. 20, 2015, at Oktibbeha County Hospital. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Canaan MB Baptist Church with David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Sandfield Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon-6 p.m. at Carter’s Funeral Home of Columbus. Mr. Sparks was born June 5, 1950, in Crawford to the late Burton Sparks Sr. and Maggie Sparks. He was formerly employed at Columbus Glass Works. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, J.B. Sparks, Andrew L. Sparks and Joe Lee Sparks. He is survived by his children, Cassandra Glass, Kevin Brown and Bert Sparks, all of Columbus, Larry Staples of Greenwood, Pamela Lyons of Chicago, Darrell Williams and Terrance Pines, both of Atlanta, Shayla Fenton and Chakira Fenton, both of Dallas, and Tracey Bevill of Starkville; siblings, Beatrice Johnson, Wynona Moore, Emma Stevenson, Lillie Sparks and Sarah Sparks, all of Columbus, Eliza Ash, Lucinda Porter, Vantee Sparks, all of Chicago, and Beulah Sparks-Brown of Sandusky, Ohio; 36 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
