Novel Gentry

ABERDEEN — Novel Debourice “Cowboy” Gentry, 83, died May 22, 2010, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Mark Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation is today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Gentry was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Pontotoc to the late William Neal Gentry and Gracie Thompson Gentry. He lived the past 65 years in Monroe County. He retired after 38 years as a road grader operator for District 4, Monroe County. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virtie Mae Tutor Gentry; son, William Neal Gentry; sister, Elsie Graves, and brothers, Burnice, Bonnie and James Gentry. He is survived by his sons, Danny P. Gentry, of Aberdeen, and Stephen D. Gentry, of Baldwin, La.; sister, Clestine Newell, of Tupelo; brother, Alton Gentry, of Universal City, Texas; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Todd Gentry, Rowell Leffew, Steve Haynes, Frankie Little, Sonny Clay, Sid Herndon, and Jessie Ballard.
