COLUMBUS — Nellie Grace McGregory, 89, died March 21, 2019, at Aurora Health and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mt. Zion Church with the Rev. Doran Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion M.B. Church Cemetery in Steens. Visitation is from noon-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McGregory was born April 9, 1929, in Steens, to the late Will and Ethel Mae Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie M. Gregory; and children, Jessie Gregory, Jimmy Gregory and Gladys Owens. She is survived by her children, Benny James Gregory of Antioch, California, DeForrest Petty of Montgomery, Alabama, Gilbert Petty Sr. and Lola Daniels-Smith, both of Columbus; siblings, Willie George Owens of Meridian, Louis Will Owens, Johnny James Owens, Mattie Lee Tucker and Lovie Williams, all of Mansfield, Ohio, Edward Owens of Columbus, Ethel M. Harris of Merced, California and Isabel Phelps of Indianapolis, Indiana; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Al Gregory, Tony Eastwood Jr., Gilbert Petty Jr., Raymond Scott, Michael Ash and Raymond Profit.
