WEST POINT — Modess Bailey Dye, 92, died March 19, 2009, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with Bro. Ben Yarber officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Dye was born May 4, 1916, in Calhoun County to the late Tom and Etta Pettit Bailey. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of West End Baptist Church. She was one of the founding members of Faith Baptist Church. In 2008 she won an award in a Jackson art competition. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Weston Dye; son, Tommy Dye; brother, Winford Bailey; and one granddaughter. She is survived by her daughters, Verna Wilbourn of West Point and Mary Bailey of Millford, Ind.; one sister, Lillian Biela of Columbus; brother, J.C. Bailey of Columbus; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Allen Wood, Bill Ladd, Wayne Kuykendall, Gary Dedeaux, Jim Gillespie, Robert Wilbourn and Danny Bailey. Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, 1834 E.
