COLUMBUS — Minnie Louise Billups Walker, 72, died May 26, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at West Lowndes High School. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from noon-5 p.m. today at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Walker was born July 10, 1946, to Lillie Bell Billups and the late Cornelius Billups Sr. She was a 1965 graduate of Hunt High School, Mississippi Valley State University and Mississippi University for Women. She was formerly employed as a teacher with West Lowndes Elementary School. She was a member of Mt. Pelier M.B. Church in Mayhew. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Billups; and sister, Doris Billups. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Jessie L. Walker Sr.; children, Terry Hairston of Yonkers, New York, Jessie Walker Jr. of West Point, Charisse Walker-James of Fairburn, Georgia and Kendrick Walker of Columbus; sisters, Brenda Hosey and Kay Lynn Billups, both of West Point; brothers, Timothy Billups and Cornelius Billups Jr., both of West Point; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
