Mildred Wallace Swartz, 89, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with the Rev. Kenny Gardner officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:45 AM prior to the service at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2nd Ave. North location. She was born on November 14, 1928, in Itawamba County, MS, to the late Homer Wallace and Avilee Swindle Wallace. She formerly attended the North Columbus Church of God and worked as a homemaker. During WWII, she was a garment maker for the US Navy at the manufacturing plant in West Point, MS. Mildred loved her family very much. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Swartz; five of her siblings: Grady, James, Kelly, Ludie and Dorothy; grandson, David Palms; and son-in-law, George Palms. She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Reynolds (Mark) of Columbus, MS, Helen McAlpin of Columbus, MS and Hilda Palms of Goose Creek, SC; sister, Margie Carr of Tupelo, MS; one grandchild, Cynthia Palms; and one great-grandchild, Travis Rocheleau.
