WEST POINT — Mike Hawkins, 80, died Feb. 27, 2009, at his residence. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harlon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Keyes Cemetery in Dorsey. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hawkins was born March 6, 1928, in Itawamba County, to the late Lilley Dora Tart and William Thomas Hawkins. He was a mechanic and was retired from Brian Foods for 30 years. He was a veteran of the Air Force, U.S. Army, and Marine Corps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Hawkins; son, Charles Russell Hawkins; brothers, Jack, Jim, Lee, Burt, and Henry Hawkins. He is survived by his wife, Louise Hawkins of West Point; daughters, Marsha Brand of Pheba, and Debra Meatyard of Seminole, Ala.; sons, Mike Dewberry of Louisville, and Danny Micheal Hawkins of West Point; sister, Viola Withaker of Hamilton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Brand, Dale, Jimmy, and Robert Hawkins, Chip Shepard, Robert Pate, and Chase and Micheal Dewberry.
