REFORM, Ala. – Mary Elizabeth Powell, 95, died Dec. 12, 2020, at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joey Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Ethelsville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Powell was born March 19, 1925, in Camden, to the late Clarence A. Whitten and Alice Elizabeth Brownlee Whitten. She was formerly employed with Aliceville Cotton Mill and was a member of Ethelsville Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, J.K. Powell; siblings, Carter, Troy, Calvin, James, Dewitt, Shaden, Junior and Virgil Whitten, Louise Bradshaw and Corrine Jaynes; stepchildren, Jerry Powell and Ann Finch; one grandchild; and one step-grandchild, She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Byars; siblings, Earnest Whitten, Bennie Whitten and Blanche Taylor; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
