COLUMBUS — Mary Emma Poindexter, 75, died Dec. 20, 2009. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity CME Church with Pastor Savannah Jones and the Rev. William Rice Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Crawford. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Poindexter was born June 11, 1934, in Lowndes County to the late Carrie Jennings and Christopher Columbus Thomas. She was a member of Trinity CME Church. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Poindexter Sr.; daughters, Nettie, Wanda and Trente Poindexter, both of Columbus, Carol, Brenda and Ada Poindexter, and Renee Adamoh, all of Houston; sons, Eugene Poindexter Jr., and Roosevelt Poindexter Sr.; sister, Jimmie Thomas of Columbus; brothers, Albert, Walter C., Carzell, Sammie, and Eddie Dean Thomas, all of Columbus, Gus Thomas of Aliceville, Ala., William Ben Thomas of St. Louis, and Henry Thomas of Tupelo; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons.
