SULLIGENT, Ala. — Mary Lee Gilmer, 100, died Oct. 17, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Patrick Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Chandler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Gilmer was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Lamar County, to the late Clinton Leroy and Rachel Adeline Kennedy. She was a member of the Vernon First U.M. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Gray Gilmer; and sisters, Julia Maddox and Helen Chandler. She is survived by her children, Donal Gray Gilmer of Charlotte, North Carolina, Marianne Land Taylor of Duluth, Georgia, Josephine Byrd of Vernon and David Gilmer of Sulligent; brother, Hunter C. Kennedy; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Vernon First U.M. Church, 250 1st St. NE, Vernon, AL 35592.
