Mary Dell Lewis Davis, 66, died April 9, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Olen Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon-6 p.m. at Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus. Mrs. Davis was born Aug. 24, 1942, in Noxubee County to the late Boone Harris Sr. and Minnie Lewis. She had been employed with Sanderson Plumbing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Carrie Jean Davis and Nina Marie Davis; and brothers, Joe Lewis, Roosevelt Lacy and Oscar James Porter. She is survived by her husband, L.J. Davis of Columbus; sons, David Pratt and Ricky Davis, both of Columbus; daughters, Joanna Brooks of Enterprise, Ala., and Shirley Malone, Janet and Rose Pratt and Kimbley Davis, all of Columbus; sisters, Annie Ruth Tucker and Adell Promije, both of Kankakee, Ill., Shirley McGee, Pearl Harris, Mary Robertson, Bearth People, Dorothy Walls and Emma Bush; brothers, Roosiville, Robert, Venzell and Willie C. Harris; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
