GHOLSON — Margaret Watkins Hailey, 81, died April 24, 2009, at Jeff Anderson Regional Hospital-Meridian. Services were Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon with Bro. Steve Reynolds and Bro. Gerald Butler officiating. Burial followed at Shuqualak Cemetery in Shuqualak. Mrs. Hailey was born Nov. 5, 1927, in Kemper County to the late Thomas W. and Annie Persons West. She moved to Wahalak and was a graduate of Kemper County schools. She was a homemaker and a member of Shuqualak Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star. She and her husband were owners and operators of Gholson Cash Store for more than 20 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Wardell West; sister, Eloise Moffett; and husband, Jimmy Watkins. She is survived by her husband, Levin Hailey of Shuqualak; sons, W.G. Watkins of Madison and Billy Watkins of Ridgeland; sisters, Dorothy Faye Coleman of Slaughter, Ernestine Forsman of Alabama, Ermagene Bryan of Meridian and Lila Hammond of Winona; brother, Billy E. West of Columbus; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Trey, Taylor and Todd Watkins, Ron Veazey, Kevin Cantrell, Daniel McFatter, Kent Hailey, Robert Weaver, Len Coleman and Larry Conner. Memorials may be made to: Blair E.
