Lee Blackwell Obert

Lee Blackwell Obert, passed away January 25th while visiting family in Willcox, Arizona. A memorial observance will be held at 227 Meadow Drive on February 28, 2009 from 3-7 pm. Interment will be on the family farm in Kentucky next to her husband. During World War II she worked at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS where she met her future husband. Lee became a registered nurse in 1972, receiving her degree from Mississippi University for Women. She was a member of the Lions Club for many years, and was a avid bowler well into her 80’s. Lee was the youngest of five children born to James and Minnie Blackwell in Forest County, MS. She is preceded in death by her husband – Charles and her siblings. She is survived by daughters -Sylvia (Robert) Turner and Terry (Rich) Aust; grandchildren – KC Blackwell and Amy Weirda; and great-grandchildren – Dylan, Emerson, Tate, and Rowan. She is also survived by the children of her oldest sister, Eran Blackwell Graves, and the children of her brother, W.C. Blackwell. These are Jane Rachel Graves, Jacob Hughes Graves, III, James Blackwell Graves, and Jimmy Blackwell, all living in Lexington, Kentucky.
