VERNON, Ala. — Laura Wheeler, 89, died Feb. 20, 2010, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Ala. Services are today at 2 p.m. at Mt. Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Shiloh-Pinhook Cemetery. Mrs. Wheeler was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Walker County, Ala., to the late William Jack Overton and Delia Ann Johnson Overton. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Wheeler; brothers, Lorenza, Ralph and Cecil Overton; sisters, Lula Moody and Elizabeth Poe; and grandchildren, Sherry Blaylock and Jeremy Turner. She is survived by her sons, William E. Wheeler, of Northport, Ala., Phil Wheeler, of Vernon, and Harold Wheeler, of Sulligent, Ala.; daughters, Barbara Blaylock, of Gattman, Caroline Wheeler, of Vernon, Patricia Alexander, of Vernon, and Linda Hubbert, of Fayette, Ala.; 18 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Randy Wheeler, Darrell Wheeler, Wayne Blaylock, Phillip Wheeler, Michael Wheeler, Brian Wheeler, Chad Wheeler and Kevin Wheeler.
