Honorable Laura Dean Eaves Murphy, 45, died at her residence in Booneville on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Services will be at 2 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Bethesda Baptist Church west of Crawford with Bro. Allen Deas officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 PM until service time at the church. Holland-Harris Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Ms. Murphy was born on Oct. 11, 1963 in Columbus to Albert W. Eaves, Jr. and Lois Dean Bell Eaves. She grew up in Crawford and graduated from Central Academy in Macon. She received her B.S. in Business Administration from Mississippi State University in 1984 and graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2000. A self employed practicing attorney in Booneville and Tupelo, Counselor Murphy concentrated her law practice in family law especially matters involving children and domestic abuse. She most recently served as case manager for the Prentiss County Youth Court as well as serving many years with the Lee County Youth Court having been appointed Guardian Ad litem for many area children. She often quipped that God called her to take care of widow women and children and she did both well. She was a member of the Lee County/Prentiss County and Mississippi State Bar and an active volunteer and supporter of S.A.F.E. Domestic Violence Shelter in Tupelo. She enjoyed all forms of music and the outdoors but her most important devotion and sacrifice in life was to her four children whom she loved and adored. She was a member of her home Church, Bethesda Baptist Church in Crawford, MS. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends everywhere. Survivors include her four children: Joseph Murphy, Julie Anna Murphy and Vaughan Murphy (Ryan Phipps) all of Oxford and Sarah-Anne Murphy of Booneville; her parents: Lois Dean and A.D. Eaves of Crawford; MS; her grandson: Henry Elvis Phipps of Oxford; her sister: Louise Davis (Ed) of Starkville, MS; her fiance: Ed Jenkins of Booneville, MS; her uncle and aunt: F.D and Joyce Eaves of New Orleans, LA; her cousin: Mark Eaves of New Orleans, LA; two nephews: Christopher Davis (Coree) of Crawford, MS and Eric Davis of Starkville, MS and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Joseph Murphy, Tony Murphy, Christopher and Eric Davis, Jim Bell, Mark Eaves, Kyle Mills, Carson Kisner, McKinley Holland, Benji Borrelli and Richard Davidson. Honorary pallbearers will be her colleagues in the Lee Co./Prentiss Co. and Mississippi State Bar. Memorials may be made to S.A.F.E., Inc. P.O. Box 985, Tupelo, MS 38802
