STARKVILLE — Larry Graves, Sr., 69, died June 14, 2012, in Tupelo. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Starkville with the Rev. Giles Lindley, the Rev. Danny Rowland and the Rev. Bob Whiteside officiating. Burial will follow in Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven with the Rev. Bruce Case officiating. Visitation is today from 2-4 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home. Mr. Graves was born July 31, 1942, to the late Mary Elsie Graves and L.H. Graves. He graduated from Brookhaven High School and Mississippi State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education, a master’s degree in counseling and a doctorate in educational psychology. He was employed as a teacher and coach in Jacksonville, Florida, a vocational rehabilitation counselor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and, at the time of his retirement, was the head of the Center for Governmental Technology and the Community Development Department with Bost Cooperative Extension Service at Mississippi State University. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda Wilson Graves of Starkville; sons, Larry Graves, Jr., and Lawson Graves, both of Starkville; stepdaughter, Cher Crowley of Starkville; stepson, Jody Pennock of Tunica; sisters, Susan Reynolds of Florence and Marianna Knight of Brookhaven; and 10 grandchildren.
