Ken and Gloria Dyer

Kenneth Eccles Dyer, 78, and Gloria Joyce Dyer, 81, of Columbus, MS, passed away Thurs- day, January 28, 2021, at their residence. After a lifetime of being together on this earth, they left to be together forever within an hour and fif- teen minutes of each other. This is a testament to their 60+ year commitment of love and epito- mizes their marriage vows till death do they part. A memorial service will be Wednesday, Feb- ruary 3, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, with Bro. Byron Benson officiating. Mr. Dyer was born April 6, 1942, in White- water, MO, to the late Elwin and Addie Cappel- la Dyer. He received his bachelor’s degree in Math from Southeastern Louisana University. Mr. Dyer retired from Weyerhaeuser Co. after 26 years as the Safety Traning Manager. He was currently employed with East Mississippi Community College as Technical Training and Instructor. Mr. Dyer was a member of Masonic Grand Lodge of Mississippi, Knights Templer of Mississippi, Shriners of Mississippi, Yorkrites of Mississippi, and Scottishrites of Mississippi. He was an umpire and called games during the 1980 Little League World Series, as well as with the Southeastern Conference – Mississippi State Baseball from 1985 – 1989. Mr. Dyer was a mem- ber of East End Baptist Church. Mrs. Dyer was born September 27, 1939, to the late Willie and Florence Reid Rushing, in New Orleans, LA. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Mississippi and East End Baptist Church. Mrs. Dyer worked as a teacher for several years and at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Tri- angle, Columbus, MS, as a switchboard operator from 2006 – 2010. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dyer was pre- ceded in death by her 2 sisters, Gladys Rushing and Gwen Baker. They were preceded in death by their daughter, Ginger Rogers; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Rogers and Rueben Rogers; and 2 great-grandchildren, Caleb Bankston and Chase Bankston. Mr. & Mrs. Dyer were survived by their daughters, Gina Dyer, Greta Miller, Gidget Dyer, and Gawain McGuff; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; Mr. Dyer’s brother, Keith Dyer; and sisters, Karen Tullier and Karolyn Featherston; and Mrs. Dyer’s sister, Glenda Hol- liday. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Masonic Grand Lodge of MS, Knights Templar of MS. Shriners of MS, Yorkrites of MS, Scottishrites of MS, Eastern Star of MS, and students of EMCC Systems Based Automation and Control Program. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
