ABERDEEN — Johnny Smith, 89, died Sept. 7, 2018, at Monroe Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Aberdeen Church of Christ. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smith was born April 14, 1929, in Okolona, to the late Howard Smith and Ruby Jernigan Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was formerly self-employed as a farmer. He was a member of Aberdeen Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dena Nichols Smith. He is survived by his son, David Smith of Hamilton; brother, Billy Smith of Okolona; and one grandchild.
