COLUMBUS — Johnnie Will Moore, 78, died Jan. 8, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Zion Pilgrim MB Church with the Rev. Christopher Wriley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-8 p.m. and the family will greet from 6-7 p.m. at Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus. Mr. Moore was born May 10, 1931, in Lowndes County to the late Wiley Upchurch and Bettie Lou Moore. He was employed at Johnston Tombigbee Manufacturing Co. and later at General Tire with Omnova Solutions until his retirement. He was a member of New Zion Pilgrim MB Church, where he had served as deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie James Poindexter and Leo Poindexter; sisters, Bessie Mae Poindexter-Williams and Jessie Mae Crume. He is survived by his wife, Celia Moore; daughters, Annie C. Macon and Terisa McQueen, both of Columbus; son, Carl Gardner Sr., of Columbus; sisters, Daisy Poindexter-Hickman, Juanita Poindexter-Hinton, Rosie Catherine Poindexter and Adartha Williams; brother, Freddie Lee Poindexter, all of Columbus; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are nephews.
