John “JP” Whitecar, III

John Phillip “JP” Whitecar, III, 53, of Columbus, MS, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at his residence.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Annunciation Catholic Chapel, with Father Jeffery Waldrep officiating.
JP was born on February 14, 1969, in Houston, TX to Kathleen Hemelt Whitecar and Dr. John Philip Whitecar, Jr., and grew up in San Antonio, TX. Despite having a brain tumor as a toddler and a resulting disability, JP enjoyed many activities. His love for cycling and 10-speed racing started in high school and lasted throughout his adult life. He enjoyed road races across several states, including the 100-mile “Hotter Than Hell” race. JP grew up with horses and rode in competitions throughout high school. He was a certified open water diver, and particularly enjoyed a diving trip to Hawaii. As a child, JP was interested in computers, and later earned a degree in computer science at Southwest Texas State University. He worked for various companies as a computer programmer. Most of his adult life was spent in Dallas, TX.
Mr. Whitecar is survived by his parents, Dr. John P and Kathleen Whitecar, Jr.; sisters, Dr. Linnane (Todd) Batzel, of Duncansville, PA, and Dr. Colleen (Adam) Fine, of Waban, MA; and brother, Michael Whitecar, who resides in China; and multiple nieces and nephews.
