James Theodore “Jim” Stuckenschneider, age 86, of Homewood, AL, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away after a brief illness on February 20, 2009 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Artz Fellowship Hall at the Fletcher-Jones Building of First United Methodist Church with Dr. Sam Morris and Rev. Tony Proctor officiating. Visitation will also be Wednesday, February 25, 2009 one hour prior to the service at the same location at First United Methodist Church. Mr. Stuckenschneider was born February 18, 1923 in St. Louis, MO to the late Albert Herman and Margaret Bramlett Stuckenschneider. He was a graduate of Millsaps College of Jackson, MS and was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy. In 1952, he began work as an executive for Texaco Oil Company and retired in 1978. He and his wife established a farm near Columbia, TN and in 1990, retired from farming and returned to Columbus. Mr. Stuckenschneider was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Stuckenschneider and his wife Emma-Gene moved to Birmingham, AL three years ago and also joined Valley Christian Church Disciples of Christ where he attended services with his son and daughter-in-law. Mr. Stuckenschneider is survivied by his wife of 66 years, Emma Gene Gainey Stuckenschneider of Birmingham, AL; daughter, Nelia (John) Westenberger of Spring Hill, TN; son, Ted (Dana) Stuckenschneider of Birmingham, AL; granddaughter, Michelle (Brian) Westenberger Carrico of Florence, AL; and great-granddaughter, Hope Boehm Carrico of Florence, AL. Pallbearers will be the men of First United Methodist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Stuckenschneider Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church.
