BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Jim Stuckenschneider, 86, died Feb. 20, 2009, at St. Vincent’s Hospital–Birmingham. Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Artz Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Dr. Sam Morris and the Rev. Tony Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday for one hour prior to services in the fellowship hall of the church. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Stuckenschneider was born Feb. 18, 1923, in St. Louis to the late Albert Herman and Margaret Bramlett Stuckenschneider. He was a graduate of Millsaps College and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. In 1952, he began work as an executive for Texaco Oil Co. and retired in 1978. He and his wife established a farm near Columbia, Tenn., and in 1990 he retired from farming and returned to Columbus. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Emma Gene Gainey Stuckenschneider of Birmingham; daughter, Nelia Westenberger of Spring Hill, Tenn.; son, Ted Stuckenschneider of Birmingham; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. Pallbearers will be members of First United Methodist Church.
