Jim Gordon, 51, died November 5, 2018, at his home in Tampa, Florida, after a year-long battle with metastatic melanoma. He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on August 12, 1967, to Walter James Gordon and Theo Jean Umland Gordon. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and treasured that connection wherever he lived. As a lover of all kinds of music, he played trumpet in the Caldwell High School marching band and the Big Maroon Band at Mississippi State University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business and loyally served various employers in a managerial role-the last being with Fanatics, where he developed the replenishment strategy. He was an avid collector of DC comics and all the things relating to them. Jim married Stacey Lord on January 20, 2001, in a well-remembered celebration in Las Vegas. They have one son, Alexander James Gordon. Jim was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Hazel Willson Gordon and his maternal grandparents, Carl and Adelaide Schallert Umland. He is greatly missed by his wife, son, mother and sister, Jane Belcastro, as well as, cousins and “brothers” in friendship. There will be a memorial service in Columbus at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 515 N. Lehmberg Rd., on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 2 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Stacey Gordon for the medical expense fund at 18147 Canal Pointe St., Tampa, FL 33647 or to Covenant Presbyterian Church in Columbus.
