KENNEDY, Ala. — Jerry Taylor, 66, died at his residence. Services are today at 11 a.m. at Kennedy Church of God with the Rev. Mike Walker and the Rev. Marion Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Kennedy City Cemetery in Kennedy, Ala. Visitation is today one hour prior to services. Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Kennedy and a U.S. Marines veteran of the Vietnam conflict earning a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Purple Heart. He worked as a truck driver before becoming disabled. He is preceded in death by his father, James Otha Taylor; brother, Marvin Donald Taylor; and sister, Shelby Jean Taylor Johnson. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn C. Roberts; sisters, Sandra Hicks and Gwen Walker; and brother, Wayne Taylor. Pallbearers are Scott, Bruce, and Joey Burkhalter, Ryan and Jamie Taylor, Tim Johnson, Mike Ellis, Michael Walker and Derrick Fondren.
