MACON — Jeanne Jones Ferris, 96, died April 16, 2009, at Carrington Nursing Center-Starkville. Graveside services were Saturday at 3 p.m. at Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon with the Rev. Andy Andews officiating. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Ferris was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Byhalia to the late John Rosser and Etta Mims Jones. She was a homemaker, a member of Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Macon and a communicant of Starkville Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. She was a charter member of Macon Junior Auxiliary, Dancing Rabbit Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and Women’s Study Circle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Brooke Ferris Jr.; sister, Constance Jones Graves; and one grandchild. She is survived by her daughter, Constance Ferris Walker, of Starkville; sons, Eugene Brooke Ferris, of Memphis, Tenn., Douglas Mims Ferris, of Oxford, and Michael David Ferris, of Tupelo; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
