COLUMBUS — Jeanette Sloan Cockrell, 61, died June 21, 2022, at Aurora Australis Lodge.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Temple of Deliverance Baptist Church in Steens, with Maurice Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. today, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cockrell was born Jan. 9, 1961, in Columbus, to Lorine Swanigan and the late Emmitt Coleman. She was formerly employed as a manager at Captain D’s and a member of Temple of Deliverance Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Swanigan; and step-father, Collier Swanigan.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Johnny Cockrell; children, Fredrick Keith Colister, Stacy Renee Colister and Jennifer Cockrell, all of Columbus; sisters, Zena Dickerson of Gretna, Louisiana, Coretta Swanigan-Randolph and Angel Wilson, both of Columbus; brothers, Emmit Dickerson of Artesia, Collier Swanigan, jerry Swanigan, Victor Swanigan, Michael Swanigan and Martin Ladexter Swanigan, all of Columbus; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Frederick Colister, Antwan Swanigan, Victor Swanigan, Marico Cockrell, Jacobe Stepp and Martin Swanigan.
