James William Moses, 94, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 3, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Bro. Danny Avery officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Moses was born May 1, 1923, in Brookwood, AL to the late James Grover and Lillie Hendon Moses. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member and deacon at Cannan Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Mr. Moses worked as a demand processor at Columbus Air Force Base for 28 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 69. Mr. Moses also enjoyed repairing watches, jewelry and restored furniture. He enjoyed woodcraft and working on inspirational word puzzles. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moses was preceded in death by his brother- Lee Moses; sistersIrene Moses, Aieler Beams, and Pauline O’Bryant; and son-WM Ronnie Moses. Mr. Moses is survived by his wife- Emma Roberta Pate Moses of Columbus, MS; son- Phillip (Ruth) Moses of Columbus, MS; sisters- Louise Lancaster of New Boston, TX, and Elsie Zachry of Oklahoma; grandchildren- Rhonda Brackin, Susan Atkins, Jennifer Elliot, and Jessica Arnone; great-grandchildren- Andrea Bacola, Braxton Atkins, Matthew Elliot, Caitlyn Atkins, Sarah Elliot, Logan Arnone, Austin Arnone, and Tenley Arnone. Pallbearers will be nephews and men of Cannan Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Barnes, Russell, Flood, Bill Haycock, Eddie Heflin, Bro. Paul Shaw, Truman Oswalt, Staff of Baptist Hospice, and the Columbus Fire Department.
