STARKVILLE — James Raymond “Jimmy” McKell, 91, died July 18, 2018, at his residence. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-3:30 p.m. prior to services at the church. Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. McKell was born March 21, 1927, in Schenectady, New York, to the late Cecil Vivian and Anna Raymond McKell. He attended Jackson, Clarksdale and Grenada schools. He graduated from New Dorp High School in Staten Island, New York and Mississippi State College. He was a U.S. Navy and Mississippi National Guard veteran. He was formerly employed in the diary industry and as a rural mail carrier. He served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite “Titter” Turner; and sister, Mary Vivian McKell Bradley. He is survived by his children, Margaret McKell Earnest of Athens, Georgian, Raymond T. McKell, William A. McKell and Vivian McKell Cade, all of Starkville; and six grandchildren.
