WEST POINT — Jack Edward Golson, 84, died May 23, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Whitney officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home. Mr. Golson was born Oct. 22, 1931, to the late Wilson and Dixie Kegley Golson. He was previously employed as a welder with Babcock and Wilcox Corporation. He was a retired Sergeant Major with the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was a member of the West Point Masonic Lodge #40 F&AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Helen Hodnett Golson; sisters, Maxine Richards, Mildred Nichols and Dorothy Hodnett; and brothers, Richard and Jimmy Golson. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon G. Williams of Columbus and Anita G. Brown of West Point; sister, Janet Mills of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; brothers, Charles C. Golson of Columbus and Douglas M. Golson of West Point; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Christopher Hodnett, Charlie Golson, Tommy Hodnett, Eddie Richards, Steve Hodnett, Daniel Hodnett, Shannon Mills, Rodney Hodnett, Jon Pernell and Daniel Pernell.
