Hulon Reed, 74, died March 10, 2009, at Oktibbeha County Hospital. Services are today at 2 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville with the Revs. Russell Mord and Perry McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Craig Springs Cemetery. Mr. Reed was a retired farm manager with MAFES at Mississippi State University and owner of Reed’s Repair Shop. After retirement he worked with Mississippi State University North Farm Motor Pool as a mechanic. He was a member of the Starkville Bass Club. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Crumpton Reed of Starkville; daughters, Rita Leaptrott of Memphis, Tenn., and Tracy King and Joy Reed, both of Starkville; son, Michael Reed of Philadelphia; sisters, Louvene Buckner and Pearlene McCoy, both of Starkville; brothers, Isaac Reed of Prattville, Ala., Curtis Reed of Louisville and Cecil Reed of Starkville; and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis; or Sturgis Baptist Church.
