STARKVILLE — Gretchen Povall Passons, 82, died March 29, 2023, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. prior to services at the church. Welch Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Passons was born on May 5, 1940, in Lexington, to the late Ruth Elmore and George Oltenburg Povall. She attended Lexington High School and MSCW. She earned a degree in pharmacy from Birmingham Southern. She was formerly employed at Starkville Academy and Starkville High School as an English, Latin, and Spanish teacher. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Resurrection.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Elmore Povall.
She is survived by her husband, Peyton Passons; children, Paige Passons Simmons, Robin Passons Bryan and Peyton Elmore Passons; and eight grandchildren.
