SULLIGENT, Ala. — Gladys “Nita” Franklin, 81, died June 2, 2012, at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin, Ala. Services were Sunday at Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Chaffin officiating. Burial followed in Sulligent City Cemetery. Mrs. Franklin was born Oct. 14, 1930, to the late Carson Pierce and Afton Tibbett Thompson. She was a member of Sulligent United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Franklin; and brother, Bert Thompson. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Otts of Sulligent; son, Mike Franklin of Sulligent; sister, Lana Camp of Hamilton; brothers, Wayne Thompson of Amory and Dale Thompson of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
