AMORY — Georgia Carolyn Owen Cowan, 75, died Jan. 16, 2010, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Services are Tuesday at 1 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aubrey Boren officiating. Burial will follow in the Durrett Cemetery. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. and will continue until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. A lifelong resident of Monroe County, Mrs. Cowan was born May 21, 1934, to the late James and Marie Odom Owen. She was a member of the St. Andrew’s Methodist Church and she was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Harvey Owen. She is survived by her husband, Otis Hiron Cowan Jr., of Amory; son, Otis Hiron Cowan III, of Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Georgia Cowan Marlin, of Belden, Lois Marie Sanderson, of Tupelo, and Barbara Cowan Hughes, of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers are Sammy Smith, Ralph Salter, Charles Blankenship, Boyd Bryan, Warner Hester, Frank Comer, Thomas Griffith and James Burrows. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Cemetery, 60438 Old Highway 6, Amory, MS 38821.
