TARKVILLE — George E. Holmes Sr., 80, died Dec. 21, 2017, in Las Vegas. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Century Hairston Funeral Home Chapel in Starkville. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Starkville. Visitation is Friday from noon-5 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Mr. Holmes was born May 8, 1937, in Chicago to the late Horace Grady Holmes and Minnie Bell McDowell. He was formerly employed as a professor. He is survived by his brothers, Richard Holmes and Horace Holmes; sister, Torece Holmes-ReNeau; a wife, children and many grandchildren.
