Gearl Wayne Greggs, 67, died June 13, 2009 at his residence in Columbus. Services are today at 1 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbus with Elbert Lee Wheat officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mr. Greggs was born May 2, 1942, in Covington, Tenn., to the late James P. and Laura Starnes Greggs. He was a longtime Columbus resident and helped manage Hardin’s Superette for the past 15 years. In addition to his parents, Greggs was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Faye Taggart Greggs, of Columbus; daughters, Laura Dulin, of Oxford, and Jodie Dye, of Senatobia; sons, Rodney Greggs and Ricky Hardin, both of Columbus; sister, Jean Honnoll, of Columbus; brother, Billy Joe Greggs, of Covington, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jacob Greggs, Chris Marsh, James Edwards, Stanley Taggart, Kevin Taggart and Doug Hill.
