Frances Burks

COLUMBUS — Frances Elizabeth Miller Burks, 90, died May 18, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jearl Hunley and the Rev. Luke Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation is today from 5-7 p.m. at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home and one hour prior to services. Mrs. Burks was born Oct. 30, 1925, to the late Tallie Goodbar and Mary Reese Nichols Miller in Monroe County. She graduated from Aberdeen High School and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Burks; son, Kerry L. Burks; brothers, T.A. Miller, George Miller, Harry Miller and Marvin Miller; and sisters, Annie Wilma Sanders and Marlyn Lee. She is survived by her sons, Earl B. Burks Jr. and Mike Burks, both of Columbus; daughters, Diane Lawrence and Debbie Burks, both of Columbus; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Andy Lawrence, Randy Lawrence, Mason DeOrnellis, Noah Lawrence, Robert Cooper, Ricky Mordecai, Dusty Lee and Barry Lee.
