AMORY — Ewel Hughes, 51, died Jan. 30, 2010, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Services are Tuesday at 3 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gus Shelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Durrett Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hughes was born Jan. 7, 1959, in Cleveland to Hullett and Billie Ryle Hughes. He had lived in Hattiesburg for four years and in Vicksburg for 21 years. He graduated from Cleveland schools and Mississippi State University and was an employee at Entergy for 21 years. He was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church and the Big O and Mill Pond hunting clubs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Andy Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was survived by his wife, Barbara Cowan Hughes, of Vicksburg; daughter, Amanda Carol Hughes, of Tupelo, and Carrie Ann Hughes, of Vicksburg, and sister, Charlett Hughes Hollomon, of Hattiesburg. Pallbearers are John Piazza, Duane Stagg, Mike Gatti, Jay Sanderson, Ed McGowan, Billy Hall, Jerry Lewis and Johnny Piazza.
