Evelyn Tucker Guthrie, 91, died June 14, 2009, at Arrington Assisted Living Facility in Columbus. Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home in Tuscaloosa with the Rev. Joe Guthrie officiating. Visitation is Wednesday for one hour preceding the funeral at the funeral home. Mrs. Guthrie was formerly of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and a member of Alberta Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. She moved to Columbus to the Arrington eight years ago. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Guthrie; brother, Doug Tucker; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Willcutt, of Columbus; son, Joe Guthrie, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Brian Benson, Jon Guthrie, Derek Hodnett, Dwight Hooper, Brent Thompson and Brad and Jason Willcutt. Memorials may be made to Baptist Hospice or to Gideon’s International.
