CRAWFORD – Eugene “Cubby” Hairston, 69, died Feb. 4, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, at Oakland M.B. Cemetery, with Willie S. Sanders officiating. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. today, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hairston was born March 2, 1951, in Crawford, to the late A.W. Lowery and Magnolia Hairston. He was formerly employed with Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Company and was a member of Oakland M.B. Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Shangra Terrial Sharp Bell; and siblings, L.A. Hairston Sr., Willie James Lowery and Caleb Lowery. He is survived by his siblings, Roy Hairston of Columbus, Rev. Willie Hairston of Starkville, J.B. Hairston of Dayton, Ohio, A.W. Lowery Jr. of Sparta, Illinois, Walter Lowery of Crawford, Dorothy Sanders, Frannie Turner both of Columbus, Diane Clayborn of Artesia, Mary Helen Bishop of Starkville, Stacy Colom, Vanessa Wilburn, Berniece all of Crawford, Adelle McFadden of Texas, Betty Jean Hendricks of Connecticut and Vera Blackmon of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
