COLUMBUS — Essie Harris Fenton, 95, died Nov. 20, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, in Memorial Gardens. Carterfs Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Fenton was born May 29, 1925, in Columbus, to the late Lacey Billups and Hosey Harris. She was formerly employed with Beneke Corp. and was a member of Oak Grove M.B. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Fenton; children, Elbert Fenton Jr and Roy Fenton; siblings, Clara Davis, Bessie Will Harris, Mattie Will Humphries, Lizzie Fenton, Otis Harris, Arthur Lee Harris and Earnest Harris. She is survived by her children, Frank Fenton, Tommy Fenton, Robert Fenton all of Columbus and Mary Lynn Webber of St. Louis, Missouri, and 34 grandchildren.
