DEMOPOLIS, AL/COLUMBUS, MS — Ernestine Brewer Rogers of Demopolis, AL died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, in her sleep at the age of 93. The funeral was Monday, Nov. 26 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Demopolis, where she had been a member for more than 60 years. Burial was in the Rogers Family Cemetery in Letohatchie, AL. She dared us to explore, taught us it was okay to fail but challenged us not to, and encouraged us to live life to the fullest, just as she did, with the goal of always helping others and making a difference, not for ourselves but for the community, wherever we called home. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, James B. Rogers Sr. She leaves behind five sons, Jim Rogers Jr. (Paige) of Singapore, Dick Rogers (Johnna) of Mobile, Mabry Rogers (Jeanne) of Birmingham, Broughton Rogers of Demopolis and Steve Rogers of Columbus; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with a fifth on the way. Kirk Funeral Home in Demopolis was in charge of arrangements.
