STARKVILL — Emma Lou Monroe,85, died March 14, 2022, at OCH Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Welch Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Welch Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Monroe was born March 1, 1937, in Philadelphia, to the late Sylvester Davidson and Emma Bell Bozeman Davidson. She was formerly employed at Garan Shirt Co., Herchede Hall Clock Company, Wevex and as a plant pathology lab technician at Mississippi State Extension. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Pete” Monroe; brothers, Grover Davidson, JD Davidson and Buddy Davidson; sisters, Ethelle Ladd, Bertha Evans, Mae Collins and Pauline Watkins; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Calhoun of Starkville; sister, Nell Spurlock of Meridian; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
