BIGBEE VALLEY — Elma Hugh Mapp Murphy, 81, died Jan. 30, 2010, in Columbus. Services are today at 1 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Murphree officiating. Burial will follow in Deerbrook Cemetery. Mrs. Murphy was born June 13, 1928, in Mangham, La., to the late Allen Howell and Elma Hugh Triplett Mapp. She was a member of Deerbrook Baptist Church. She was a retired business manager. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Murphy; and grandson. She is survived by her daughter, Edith Murphy Shelton; sons, Robert Ray Murphy, Thomas Eugene Murphy and Marcus Howell Murphy; sister, Elsie Ruth King; brothers, Allen Mapp and Jimmy Mapp; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
