COLUMBUS — Ellis Olen Blanton, 83, died March 27, 2019, at the Veteran Affairs Home in Oxford. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Church in Southaven with Anders Lee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Blanton was born to the late William Harrison and Elba Tyler Blanton. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was formerly employed with the Memphis DIPEC and North Lake Boat Dock. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Columbus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tyler, Gaylon, Trellis and Joseph; sisters, Catherine and Lorine; and son, Edward Olen Blanton. He is survived by his wife, Linda Blanton of Columbus; daughters, Gail Sears of Lake Cormorant and Sherry Hughes of Atoka, Tennessee; son, William Blanton of Nesbit; sister, Grace Howell of Starkville; brother, Jack Blanton of Walls; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
